The Hourglass Pub and Eatery

Recently, I have been spending my Wednesday evenings at the Hour-Glass Pub and Grill in SE Portland on Glisan St. Not for a night out on the town, but for their spaghetti dinner. This little dive bar has some of the best spaghetti that you will ever eat. For a whole $4.25, you get a heaping plate of noodles and meat sauce with a side of garlic Texas toast. Whether it's happy hour or any time of the day, you can get the cheapest drinks anywhere in the Montavilla area. They have a full menu as well as a full bar that has more than enough to keep anyone happy.

The atmosphere here is also fantastic, exactly what you would expect of a dive bar. The game or fight is always on the big screen and the crowd is mostly locals, you will not find any trendy hipsters trying to talk to you about their love of Justin Bieber or anything more than the great game on last night and the Portland weather. Pool tables are available by the hour, something rare to find in most bars.

Although you must be over 21 to enjoy one of the cheapest, most filling meals in town, you can eat breakfast, lunch or dinner there. Breakfast starts at 7 AM and the bar closes at the standard 2 AM. For a cheap drink, they are nice and stiff.

Overall, if you are looking for a cheap place to eat, have a few drinks, and be left alone, the Hour-Glass Pub and Eatery is the place to go.
